Friuli Colli Orientali DOC, this wine comes from a pure processing of Pinot Grigio grapes, a vine originating from Burgundy, introduced in Italy in the 19th century. It derives, curiously enough, from the mutation of Pinot Noir, which took place in the early 1960s. In Friuli Venezia Giulia it finds its ideal habitat, especially in the cooler areas of the hills to the north of the Colli Orientali zone. And it is certainly the most successful Friulian wine in the world. The one proposed here by Sirch is a very traditional version, characterised by a beautiful bright yellow colour with slight pinkish reflections. The nose reveals an elegant, complex and enveloping bouquet. Floral hints of jasmine and white wisteria blend with notes of ripe fruit, apricot, melon and white peach. All made even more intriguing thanks to balsamic notes. In the mouth it is complex and harmonious, fresh and enveloping. Its subtle sapidity gives it freshness and persistence. A super versatile wine, it is suitable for a simple aperitif but also to accompany a formal lunch or dinner. The combination with white meats, such as roast rabbit, should also be tried.
