Let's start with the grape variety. Friulano, until 2007 also known as Tocai Friulano, is a white variety native to Friuli-Venezia Giulia. In fact, it is even one of the most important indigenous grape varieties of the region, and represents a significant part of local wine production. In the hills of the North East, Friulano develops well, thanks to the marl, sand and clay-rich soils and the marine influences that ensure good temperature fluctuations between day and night. Villa Locatelli, the dynamic line of Tenuta di Angoris, offers this 100% Friulano cultivated using sustainable methods. In the cellar, the technique is simple and precise. It starts with a cold maceration phase, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature for 10 days. The wine is then left to rest for about 8 months in stainless steel containers and, following bottling, is refined in the bottle for a further month. Straw yellow with golden hues, the nose is dominated by wild flowers, almond and honey that combine with sensations of hay and geranium. In the mouth it is pleasantly dry and of medium structure. Elegant, warm and well balanced. The finish, particularly characteristic, recalls bitter almonds. Ideal with Prosciutto di San Daniele, it accompanies soups, fish dishes and omelettes.
